Please explain: <br />Describe <br />Resnonse• <br />Monthly staff meetings are held and include all paratransit staff (dispatchers, drivers, and <br />office aides.) As part of these monthly meetings, on-going training opportunities are <br />scheduled. Training topics include review of daily inspection procedures, CPR, Automated <br />Exterior Defibrillator (AED) and First Aide certification, review of in-home supportive <br />services for seniors, understanding of the City's Scholarship Program, review of proper body <br />mechanics and wheelchair tie down techniques, and on-going communications skills. <br />For FY 2007-08, PPS staff will implement a new PPS Recruitment and "training Program. <br />1'he program will include the following components: <br />• Driver "l~rainee Education Program structured to recruit individuals as Recreation <br />Aides that meet the PPS core competencies, but lack a Class B Passenger <br />Endorsement license. A 12 week training and testing period will provide <br />applicants a responsible period to successfully complete the testing requirements. <br />"through this program, the City hopes to maintain a qualified pool of paratransit <br />Drivers. <br />• On-going Class B Driver Education to include One-on-One Audits of existing <br />drivers/dispatchers and twice-yearly Defensive Driving In-Class 'Training. <br />• As needed, One-On-One Defensive Driving Refresher "Training for <br />drivers/dispatchers involved in a preventable accident. <br />• Behind-The-Wheel Driver assessment for qualified applicants in full time <br />driver/dispatcher recruitments. <br />The PPS Recruitment and Training Program will be provided through a California licensed <br />school bus instructor, and be a valuable part of the recruitment program as well as driver <br />safety training. <br />Describe your policies concerning timely pick ups or drop offs, including what window is <br />allowed, if there is a standard for the percentage of pick ups or drop offs that must occur <br />within the window, the policy concerning early pick ups, and whether there is a maximum <br />amount of lateness after which a provider no-show or missed trip is counted. <br />Response• <br />X:AparatransitAAnnual Program Application Cover FY0708 March 27, 2007.doc <br />Page 6 of 20 <br />
