Minutes <br />Planning Commission <br />January 11, 1984 <br />Page 11 <br />MATTERS FOR COMMISSION'S REVIEW <br />Joint Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, Alameda County Planning Commission Meetin <br />The Commissioners discussed the staff report. Mr. Harris stated that the Livermore-Amador <br />BART committee is being formed now from all of the areas to arrive at a consensus <br />on the route as soon as possible. He said it is possible they may not have a recommendation <br />by the 17th. <br />Acting Chairman Wilson asked if the Commissioners were satisfied with the four topics <br />shown on the staff report. Commissioner Getty said she didn't know whether a couple <br />of hours would serve for adequate discussion. Mr. Harris stated that the BART issue <br />may be decided by the time the joint meeting occurs. Commissioner Getty said studies <br />have to be done with regard to transportation. <br />Commissioner Lindsey said it would be very difficult for him to make the meeting. <br />CommissionerGetty said she thinks she can make it but she is not sure at this time. <br />Acti ng Chairman Wilson commented on the previous joint meeting stating it was very <br />enlightening and beneficial. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Mr. Harris stated that the Commisiioners who wished to attend the League of California <br />meeting should contact Shirley McDougall at the earliest possible time so that she can <br />make appropriate arrangements. <br />Commissioner Lindsey said he would not attend as did Acting Chairman Wilson. Commissioner <br />Getty said she might be able to attend but was unsure at this time. <br />Commissioner Getty asked about the newspaper dispenser ordinance. Mr. Harris stated <br />there was a six month grace period. Staff is working on a procedure to be followed <br />in implementing the procedure. <br />Mr. Warnick stated that materials are currently be prepared to explain the ordinance. <br />They have also drafted an encroachment application. When this is done it will be presented <br />to each of the newspapers. This will take three or four weeks. <br />Mr. Harris announced that a traffic study is being done for Owens/Johnson Drive as <br />well as the Stoneridge Intersection and Hopyard Road/I-580. The results are not yet <br />in. As soon as the study is received they will be discussing the matter with City Council <br />with regard to Leisure Sports' application for a hotel. He stated that certain things <br />w left out of the North Pleasanton Transportation Study and the hotel was one <br />of those things. <br />Commissioner Getty asked the size of Farmers Insurance building vs. Leisure Sports. <br />Mr. Harris stated it is slightly smaller. Mr. Warnick stated that the Farmers building <br />has 800 parking spaces. Commissioner Getty asked if it was one way in and out. Mr. <br />Harris stated that this is correct and that the hotel is one way in and out also. Mr. <br />Harris explained that Leisure Sports research indicated that the area could support <br />900 rooms and their application completes this figure. He also announced that he believes <br />Super 8 will be coming in to add 48 more rooms to their complex. Commissioner Getty <br />asked if the color on the Super 8 is the one which was approved.
