Minutes
Planning Commissio.
November 26, 1985
the plan presented is the best plan that can be made. He was
against High Density Residential on the East side of Foothill.
He was concerned with traffic in 7-10 years and whether
improvements would be sufficient to handle the traffic generated.
He was generally against hillside development because of the risk
to the City. He suggested the plan be referred back to staff for
further work.
Steve Decoite, 1500 Foothill Road, agreed with the previous
speakers. He said he knew Walter Johnson and he is not sure that
something that was talked about several years ago should be a
determining factor now. He purchased five acres from Walter
Johnson and he doesn't believe that Mr. Johnson would have sold
him a choice piece of land if he had residential development in
mind. Commissioner Lindsey asked Dr. Decoite if he objected to
townhouses on the east side of Foothill. Dr. Decoite would like
to see the density reduced significantly as he does not feel that
many homes are needed in the area.
Mr. Manage, 5470 Foothill Road, presented a petition with 59
signatures in support of the General Plan change, and PUD for the
subject site. He indicated all persons who signed the petition
lived within one mile of the site. He offered a vote of
confidence in the Planning Commission, staff and Mr. Fairfield.
He indicated his property is across from Stoneridge. Chairman
Wilson did not feel that Amberwood is within one mile of the
subject site.
Ron Coffman, Longview Drive, was against the project, agreeing
with many of the negative comments made earlier by other
speakers. He is concerned that development will be precedent
setting.
Frank Flemington, 11 Green Lane,
Club as the president elect, he
to the project but had concerns
their letters.
represented Castlewood Country
neither endorsed or was opposed
relating to items as stated in
Commissioner Innes asked Mr. Flemington about the heavy damage
which Castlewood Country Club residences endured with the recent
slides. Mr. Flemington stated that the Club sustained one half
million dollars in claims because of slides in the area. Half
was shared by the property owners. There is still one house in
the area which sets condemned. He felt sure that the applicants
would not build on an area they know would slide.
Mr. Flemington did have a concern with flooding of the areas.
Commissioner Michelotti asked the elevation of the home which
slid. Mr. Flemington indicated it was between 550-600'.
Walt Martin, Gloria Court, basically agreed with the other
speakers regarding density of the area. He was real concerned,
in particular, with increased traffic because of density.
The public hearing was closed.
- 10 -
