Mr. Harris explained that the General Plan and zoning
changes were proposed by an advisory committee with applications
initiated by the Planning Commission.
The Chairman indicated that General Plan amendment applications
and rezoning applications for the same property would be heard at
the same time but acted upon separately.
GP-85-1, City of Pleasanton
Application of the City of Pleasanton to
Land Use designation of an approximately
at 553, 539 and 571 St. John Street from
to High Density Residential. A negative declaration of environmental
impacts will also be considered.
Mr. Harris presented the staff reports indicating that the
subject site is Villa Armando property. The 3/4 acres open the
Arroyo Del Valle should remain Public Health and Safety. The
purpose of the proposed change is to use the remainder of the
property for High Density Residential.
Commissioner Innes then asked Mr. Harris to refer to the wall map
as these various downtown properties are discussed. Mr. Harris
completed with this request.
Commissioner Lindsey asked about the Trimmingham property and why
it is not considered for High Density Residential. Mr. Harris
indicated that the Committee recommended it stay commercial.
The public hearing was opened.
Marlene Hadley, 648 St. John St. would like to see the winery
preserved. She is concerned that High Density Residential would
have a negative impact on the people living down the street. She
acknowledged that it is a mixed use neighborhood and there are
not too many problems, but does not desire to have more
propertychanged. Chairman Doherty asked Ms. Hadley if she has
talked to any members of the Citizens Advisory Committee which
made recommendations on these subject properties. Ms. Hadley
indicated she had talked to Mr. Elsnab with whose opinion she
does not agree. Diana Bonnano didn't have time to discuss the
matter with her but she indicated that if given more time,
perhaps she would have made different recommendations.
