are in agreement. Mr. Harrington asked that 'in lieu' park
dedication fees not be paid as they will be developing the park.
Commissioner Innes asked if the park will be City owned and
maintained. Mr. Harrington said it will.
Mr. Harrington indicated they do not want to contribute to the
cost of a bridge. Commissioner Michelotti asked where the bridge
would go. Mr. Swift said two locations are proposed but the
final decision has not yet been made. Mr. Swift indicated the
desire is to reduce the traffic on West Las Positas Boulevard.
Commissioner Innes asked if the bridge requirement was put on as
a condition of project approval. Mr. Swift said it was but it
was eliminated by the City Council.
Mr. Harrington addressed the location of the proposed park
stating the citizens support Alternative "C" with a center park.
The Park and Recreation Commission prefer it be at the northeast
corner.
Debbie Wallace, 3548 West Las Positas Boulevard, spokesperson for
Pleasanton Meadows (1000 homes), stated they have met with
Council members at neighborhood meetings. They have also had
meetings with Bruce Harrington. They have concerns with safety
as their area has the two worse intersections in Pleasanton. No
matter how many units are approved, it will impact the traffic.
There was a temporary emergency access road put in previously by
the Planning Commission and then taken out by City Council.
Their committee has decided it can live with 109 homes and a 2.2
acre park. They want the park to be developed with the first
phase of development. Ms. Wallace acknowledged that the Park and
Recreation Commission wants the park to be located on the
northeast corner for expansion purposes. Ms. Wallace indicated
that several months ago, they had brought the issue up to Jacquie
Oliverius and Dolores Bengtson and nothing was done. Ms. Wallace
said they do not want a community park in the area. The area
cannot take the additional traffic which it would bring it. They
don't feel a community park is needed in northeast Pleasanton.
The community does not feel a tot lot should abut vacant County
property.
Ms. Wallace said they would like to keep the maximum number of
homes at 110. She stated that the Orloff park is a 2.5 acre park
and works good. Birdland also has one. Regarding the size of
the lots, while the community is not totally in favor of 5,000
sq. ft. lots, this is the number reached in compromise.
Chairman Lindsey asked Ms. Wallace if they would accept Falcon,
Plan "C". Ms. Wallace said they asked Falcon to come up with a
2.2 acre park in the middle of the 110 home subdivision. The
only other item they wish to be assured of is that the park will
develop at the time the first phase of the development is
constructed. They want a tot area, meandering sidewalks and do
not want a ball diamond. Ms. Wallace also asked why the two
streets are stubbed as they do not want nor need any more traffic
in the neighborhood. Further they do not want Martin Avenue to
continue and extend to Stoneridge.
- 13 -
..T
