Minutes
Planning Commission
May 28, 1986
security service, AMPB, Oakland. A buzzer will be install which
can be rung from the counter service area inside the Game
Station. Mr. Evans asked if the security guard could satisfy
Condition No. 2 of his use permit which requires a second adult
be on the premises during Fridays, Saturdays and pre-holidays.
Commissioner Innes then moved that the security guard in addition
to one adult inside the premises meets the intent of Condition
No. 2 of the Game Station's conditional use permit. This motion
carried 5-0.
The Commissioners and Mr. Evans then discussed the security plan
and the area of coverage. Mr. Evans said he did not ask
Jack-In-The-Box to participate because another guard would bethe
required. While Jack-In-The-Box contributes to the problem,
main problem centers around the area of the Game Station and 7-11
Store.
Mr. Evans indicated that he has worked with the Police Department
in the past, but has not had much assistance from them recently.
Chairman Lindsey suggested that Mr. Evans make an appointment
with Chief Eastman to discuss the matter.
Chairman Lindsey also requested that comments made by Mr. Evans
be furnished to the Police Chief for his use.
Commissioner Wellman then discussed teen activities in
Pleasanton. She asked Dolores Bengtson, Director of Parks and
Community Development to comment.
Ms. Dolores Bengtson stated the City has a full array of sports
and other teen activities. The schools also provide social
activities. Other types of programs have been been successful in
town. She reviewed problems involved with loitering, etc. at a
recent City-held dance. She also reviewed a teen night club in
Livermore and their success and problems. She stated that teens
are very social and if they are removed from the Game Station
area will merely move somewhere else. She stated she would be
interested in knowing if all of the teens loitering in the area
are from Pleasanton.
Commissioner Wellman has found that at a recent drug intercept
presentation for teens, the subject of teenage activities and
programs to be an emotional one. Commissioner Wellman would like
to see more public discussion on the possibility of having more
options for teens.
Standard Condition Requiring un
Commercial Projects
The Commission supported the staff
underground cable installation for
following Condition will be added
development
ound Cable Installation for
recommendation regarding
commercial projects.
