Minutes
Planning Commission
4/9/86
reviewed the last two accident reports and it doesn't appear they
were caused by the location of the left-turn pocket location.
Commissioner Innes reported the location of a satellite dish on a
building in Hopyard Village. Mr. Quaglia stated that the City
has already sent a warning notice (last Wednesday). The owner of
the building has requested the tenant remove the satellite dish,
but the tenant was given a copy of the ordinance and application
for design review by the planning staff.
Commissioner Lindsey then asked about the satellite dish at Hot's
Restaurant. Mr. Quaglia reported that they have been given their
second warning notice and it should be down by Friday.
OLD BUSINESS - Public Hearings
PUD-86-3, Public Storage
Application of Public storage, Inc. for rezoning from Cs
(Commercial Service) District to PUD (Planned Unit
Development)-Commercial District and development plan approval
for 4 building, 85,000 sq. ft. mini-storage facility on an
approximately 1.45 acre site located at 3744 and 3768 Old Santa
Rita Road.
Mr. Quaglia presented the staff report recommending approval of
this application. He reviewed the elevation problem with respect
to grading/drainage and resolution of it. Staff is now
recommending approval of this project.
The public hearing was opened.
Bozidar Rajkovski, Architect, stated they have spent a lot of
time with staff working on the project. As a result, they have
come up with a better plan than originally proposed. His client
agrees to the conditions as recommended in the staff report. He
also said that the rendering on the wall does not depict the
color of the doors. The doors will be a burnt orange and not
brown as shown on this rendering.
Chairman Wilson, Commissioners Innes and Wellman discussed the
elevations and aesthetics of the building.
Kathy Straub, Public Storage, acknowledged that they had reviewed
the staff report and thanked Mr. Quaglia for a good job in
explaining the project.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Innes discussed the rendering with regard to the
brown rollup doors. He preferred the brown color as opposed to
the burnt orange. Mr. Quaglia explained that the colors of the
door are basically a corporate color. Staff has no problem in
having the doors brown but would like to avoid having two
different color doors at different elevations.
- 2 -
