Jett Walker, Pleasanton Meadows Haneowners' Association, 3420 Windsor Ct.,
suggested that, with the assured commercial development of this land, this
represents a reascnabie canpranist and he is willing to go along with the
application, Tt-ere are sane concerns with the possibility of an external PA
system and with the freeway sign.
Chairperson Tarver asked it a limitation on tsars-ot-operation would calm any
concerns with a PA system. Mr. Wabcer said the system itself would be a nuisance.
Norma ICeily, 3923 Fairlands Orive, Pleasanton Meadows Homeowners' Association,
said she was hat noticed of this and she abj~rcts to a rental facility. It belongs on
the other side of the freeway with other car uses.
James Miller, 36b~b Camels Ct. , is opposed to anything that has to do with the
storage of gas tanks or pumps or the steam cleaning of cars. Signs should be
limited to building signs with no tree-standing signs. Would there be any car
painting vn the premises? why has the city bought the adjacent ~operty to
facilitate MacDonaid's?
P'~'. Swift clarified that the City bought the adjacent property ur-der the
assu~-tion that it would scccxnodate the freeway on-ramp. Cal-Trans then
located the ramp throte~ MaCDonald's. it is unclear it MacDonald's will relocate on
this property. Their preliminary assesxnent is that the location Is too small.
In respd-se to a questia- from Chairperson Lindsey, Mr. Swift noted that it
hacpataid's does relocate, the mater will be the subject of public hearings and
the public and the Commission will have future oppa'tunity "to address the issue.
In response to a questia- from Commissia~er Michelotti, Mr. Swift noted that the
signage was part of this application.
Jan Papp~ , 3917 Fairtar~ls Drive, ~scusaed the development history of the site
and said she doesr-'t ever n~r~ember receiving notice until this time. A residential
location is inappropriate for this busMess. The 2,000 sq~re toot building is too
small to do maMtenance insick so the maintenance and related activities probably
will be done outside and further degrade the area. Noise could be a nuisance
factor. The root doesn't blend with the area There would be difficulty with
policing this project. Notification was insuttlclent. Fairlands Terrace was not
notified. 'The population of north Pleasanton is unaware and uninformed of this
project.'
Planning Commission
Minutes 4 July 22, 1987
~__ __... _ - - - r
