Minutes
Planning Commission
June 24, 1987
Commissioner Michelotti asked if with a dual left-hand turn lane
the bike paths can be retained. Mr. Leach reported that
presently the width is too narrow, the bike path would be reduced
in size but not totally eliminated.
Commissioner Tarver asked the timeframe for commencement of
Bernal Avenue extension which would terminate the moratorium.
Mr. Quaglia said he was optimistic that the extension through the
Bonde property would be resolved by next summer.
The public hearing was closed.
Commissioner Michelotti stated that inasmuch as Mr. Gooch has
agreed to the conditions proposed, she could support the
application. She felt the proposal to be a good line of
demarcation and one which would improve the area. She would like
to see the pole moved to help the circulation and left-turn
movement. She was in favor of approving both requests of
Mr. Gooch.
Commissioner Tarver said he could go along with the comments of
Commissioner Michelotti if approval was tied to the Valley Avenue
extension. Traffic will improve greatly when the loop is
completed. Further he would like to see any approval include a
condition requiring the commencement of construction within one
year of receiving approval.
Commissioner Mahern had reservations concerning the narrowness of
Mavis Drive. She would like to see Vine Street connected.
A motion was made by Commissioner Michelotti, seconded by
Commissioner Tarver that the Negative Declaration prepared for
Case PUD-87-12 be recommended for adoption inasmuch as project
approvals would have a n insignificant adverse effect on the
environment.
ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Mahern, Michelotti, Tarver and
Chairman Lindsey
NOES: None
ABSENT: Commissioners Berger and Hoyt
ABSTAIN: None
Resolution No. PC-87-70 was entered and adopted recommending
approval of the negative declaration prepared for Case PUD-87-12
and PUD-87-13 as motioned.
A motion was made by Commissioner Michelotti, seconded by
Commissioner Mahern to recommend approval of Case PUD-87-12,
Alternative B, and PUD-87-13 as recommended in the staff reports
adding a condition requiring the developer move the pole at the
intersection of Vineyard Avenue and Mavis Drive, and construction
pursuant to a valid building permit shall commence within one
year of receiving Growth Management approval.
- 13 -
