Minutes
Planning Commission
3/2/587
Southern Pleasanton Corporate Recreation Center - South of Verona
Bridge.
Commissioner Innes asked staff if they know anything about this
project which is being discussed in local newspapers. Mr. Swift
report the land is owned by SFWD and is in the County.
Applications are, therefore, made through the County for
approval. EBRPD was interested in that particular property for
staging area to their park. Nothing more is known by Pleasanton
City staff at this time. Park and recreational uses normally
require a conditional use permit in the county agricultural
zones. There will probably be a conditional use permit and EIR
done for the project. Commissioner Innes expressed hope that
staff would keep the Planning Commission and City Council aware
of any negotiations going on in the County regarding this
project. Mr. Swift said the County will be making referrals to
the City in this regard.
Miscellaneous
Commissioner Innes stated he had several items he would like to
bring up inasmuch as tonight is his last night as a Planning
Commission member: He expressed frustration with the amount of
time spent on items of minor significance to the City. He would
suggest the Planning Commission get together with the staff for a
work session and would propose that 1) the Zoning Administrator
be given more responsibility. Certain letters of approval should
be written by staff with copies to the Planning Commission and
City Council so that if anyone takes exception to the decision of
the Zoning Administrator the item could be called up for review.
Items to be considered would minor sign review, etc.; 2) Design
review could be handled on a consent calendar basis. The
Planning Commission could delegate 250 of the time it spends and
could spend more time in depth on the items which significantly
effect the community.
Acknowledgments
Chairman Lindsey acknowledged the work of Commissioner John Innes
and stated he has enjoyed working with him over the recent years
and will be sorry to see him retire.
Commissioner Michelotti made a presentation to Commissioner Innes
on behalf of herself and other Commissioners.
