invade neighbor's privacy because the kids would be watching the
ramp while waiting their turn to go dawn.
Michael Powell, 1766 Peru Court, opposed the construction of the
skateboard ramp. He felt it would create traffic problems with
additional cars coming to the neighborhood; unreasonable amounts
of noise of the skateboards, along with additional voices,
music, trash accumulation, and parking Problems. He noted that
in the spring of i957 the applicant had three portable ramps
that were used any time of day or night. He presented a
petition with four signatE_~res on it opposing the ramp. He felt
the size of the ramp was too large; that the noise would
interefere with his sleep; and that skateboard ramps are more
appropriate in a Park of some kind.
Chairman Michelotti read the conditions of use to him which
spoke of a Permit. She felt problems could be handled through
the ~:se Permit which could be revoked.
hlancy Lawrence, 4i2? Francisco, wh^ lived near F'eru Court,
expressed concern about increased neighborhood traffic and
increase in liability; she wondered if it would be open at all
times and who could use it. She also expressed admiration for
the young men who applied for the permit in order to fulfill the
law requirements.
Holly Drummond, 1795 Peru Court, said she lives west of the
Woodrings and had submitted a letter in opposition. She
considered a ramp inappropriate for the area; was concerned
about an increase of traffic, litter and noise from people,
increased liability; loss of parking: and depressed values of
real estate. She had submitted an exhibit signed by ib
neighbors. She suggested the City look into establishing a
skateboard ramp in Pleasanton in one of the parks.
Chairman I'''lichelotti said that for the record: a letter had been
received from a Mrs. Scott who wrote in favor of the ramp, but
added a condition to limit the number of people who used it.
F:vb Norse. 173 Orchard Way, represented the application. He
said the last ramp was not well constructed and has been
removed. Since that time, they have earned money to get a
permit and would put togethe a good ramp. He addressed the
concerns about increased litter, parking, and traffic- He said
they did not want a lot of people there, and that he Would be
Eryilling to ride his bike there if need be to avoid another car,
and that his friends could do the same.
Chairman Michelotti asked Mr. Norse how many People are involved
in the project. He responded there are seā¢ren.
Chairman I"lichelotti asked him how many people could fit on the
ramp; how old he and his friends are. l~tr. Norse said probably
about ~B People could fit on the ramp. He and his friends are
17 years of age.
Page 7
