Commissioner Mahern discussed the elimination of building F with
Ms. Leone. Ms. Leone said that is a prime building and
absolutely necessary to the economies of the project. She noted
that an upscale restaurant was interested in it as it is on a
vital corner.
Commissioner Hovingh suggested moving Building F'ad F further in
so that it could be screened by more landscaping. Ms. Leone
felt that would take away necessary parking but that Mr. Munson
would take a look at that possibility.
The Commission discussed the moving back or elimination of
building F; Mr. Swift said moving it back would eliminate same
parking, but it could possibly be worked out.
Stanley Fathbone, 325 Fay Street, stated he felt the whole idea
is incompatible with the downtown concept.
Fichard Gehrke, 6042 Allbrook Circle, stated that the proposed
project faces his property. He expressed concern about the
height of the building, the signage, and the grillwork and felt
that it would detract from the open feeling in the area. He was
concerned about the anchor building and the length of the
project; the traffic it would generate; and the noise. He felt
that truck deliveries would cause vibrations in his house.
Commissioner Berger asked how high the soundwall is. Mr. Munson
said it is eight feet high. He showed the Commission a sample
project with the soundwall separating it from the neighborhood.
Mr. Gehrke thought that six to eight foot of parapet walls would
be visible from his property and he was opposed to that.
Mr. Munson thought that could be corrected.
Mr. Gehrke thought that garden offices might be appropriate and
wondered about the hours. Mr. Munson said hours would be 9 to
~.
Chairman Michelotti asked if anyone else in the audience had the
same concerns as Mr. Gehrke and if so, to raise their hands.
Three people raised their hands.
Mr. Munson addressed the concerns expressed by Mr. Gehrke and
the other residents. He felt the height of the parapets would
not be obtrusive; he said the mechanical equipment would be
screened from view and that the noise Zevel and traffic should
not create problems.
Chairman Michelotti asked about the type of outdoor lighting to
be used. Mr. Munson said the lighting is intended to be subtle
and should not present a glare for the residential neighborhood.
Commissioner Hovingh asked Mr. Munson what the anticipated date
of opening is, and the opening of 5toneridge interchange.
Forge 7
