RZ-_89=7s_City_of_Pleasanton <br />Application of the City of Pleasanton to amend the Municipal <br />Code relating to the provisions for signs in the Downtown <br />Revitalization District. <br />Mr. Swift presented the staff report recommending approval of <br />Gase RZ-88-7. He added that additional input has been given by <br />the Downtown Association and felt that the Case could go forward <br />tonight. <br />The public hearing was opened. <br />Al Bronzani, 714 Main Street, represented the Downtown <br />Association. He thanked the Commission and staff for allowing <br />the Association to give their input. He felt the proposed <br />changes are reasonable and fair and on behalf of the Downtown <br />Association urged the Commission`s support in amending the <br />Municipal Cade. <br />The public hearing was closed. <br />Commissioner Hoyt referred to the section on Temporary Signage <br />on page ,~ of the report. He felt that it would be more <br />appropriate for posters to be allowed for display for up to two <br />weeks prior to an event, rather than one week as shown in the <br />report. The rest of the Commission agreed with that. <br />Commissioner Hovingh commented on the use of Flags and Banners <br />and felt the ordinance should be very clear as to what type of <br />businesses could use international flags, such as Bellini`s <br />Italian Restaurant. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Mahern, seconded by <br />Commissioner Berger recommending approval of Case RZ-88-7 and <br />the proposed amendments to the downtown sign ordinance and <br />guidelines as shown in the attached exhibits f"Proposed <br />Amendments to Drdinance 1225" and "Proposed Amendments to <br />Downtown Guidelines"; and amending the use of posters for up to <br />two wee4-:s prior to an event. <br />ROLL GALL VOTE: <br />AYES: Commissioners Berger, Hovingh, Hoyt, Mahern, and <br />Chairman Michelotti <br />LADES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: Commissioner Tarver <br />Resolution No. PC-88-1i9 was entered and adopted recommending <br />approval of Case RZ-88-7 as motioned. <br />.. <br />Page 4 <br />
