RZ-_89=7s_City_of_Pleasanton Application of the City of Pleasanton to amend the Municipal Code relating to the provisions for signs in the Downtown Revitalization District. Mr. Swift presented the staff report recommending approval of Gase RZ-88-7. He added that additional input has been given by the Downtown Association and felt that the Case could go forward tonight. The public hearing was opened. Al Bronzani, 714 Main Street, represented the Downtown Association. He thanked the Commission and staff for allowing the Association to give their input. He felt the proposed changes are reasonable and fair and on behalf of the Downtown Association urged the Commission`s support in amending the Municipal Cade. The public hearing was closed. Commissioner Hoyt referred to the section on Temporary Signage on page ,~ of the report. He felt that it would be more appropriate for posters to be allowed for display for up to two weeks prior to an event, rather than one week as shown in the report. The rest of the Commission agreed with that. Commissioner Hovingh commented on the use of Flags and Banners and felt the ordinance should be very clear as to what type of businesses could use international flags, such as Bellini`s Italian Restaurant. A motion was made by Commissioner Mahern, seconded by Commissioner Berger recommending approval of Case RZ-88-7 and the proposed amendments to the downtown sign ordinance and guidelines as shown in the attached exhibits f"Proposed Amendments to Drdinance 1225" and "Proposed Amendments to Downtown Guidelines"; and amending the use of posters for up to two wee4-:s prior to an event.
