Marcelline Mahern asked when Stoneridge Drive at West Las Positas <br />would be completed. Mr. Elliott, Director of Public Works and <br />Utilities reported that the City expects to have the entire <br />Stoneridge project opened up through to Santa Rita Road by the <br />end of the month. <br />Ben Tarver requested that the following items be put on the next <br />agenda for consideration: <br />Limit the time of public hearings at the Planning Commission <br />meetings to some time frame during the meeting. <br />Code Enforcement and penalties <br />Caltrans monitoring - frequency vs model <br />Sharrell Michelotti stated that the grade level of West Las <br />Positas Boulevard in the area of the overcrossing near Muirwood <br />Drive is inconsistent in that the street paving is one level <br />while the bridge is another. <br />OLD BUSINESS - Public Hearings <br />Z-88-315, Hirst-Boatright-Rovai <br />Application of Hirst-Boatright-Rovai Enterprises for design <br />review approval to modify an existing, freestanding, directory <br />sign located 325 Main Street. Zoning for the property is CC <br />(Central Commercial) - Civic Overlay District. <br />Mr. Quaglia presented the staff report recommending approval of <br />Case Z-88-315 noting that it had been moved from the Design <br />Review Board agenda to the Planning Commission agenda because the <br />project is in the Civic Overlay District. <br />Commissioner Hovingh asked if the two signs would be put on the <br />north or south side. Mr. Quaglia responded that they both would <br />be put on the north side as these are two separately owned <br />properties. <br />The public hearing was opened. <br />Bill Hirst, 235 Main Street, stated he agreed with the conditions <br />recommended by staff and urged approval of this application. <br />The public hearing was closed. <br />Commissioner Hovingh was concerned about the size of the sign and <br />hoped it wouldn't overwhelm the "Downtown Center" sign. <br />Mr. Hirst stated that he didn't believe the proposed sign would <br />overwhelm the shopping center. <br />-3- <br />
