He <br />said he brou~~ht up the b}pass road at the lax? planning commission meeting <br />and understood that this committee is to only discuss the bypass road <br />alignment. not density of housing. He explained that there were risks <br />associated with opening up the Specific Plan. No matter how mane homes <br />were on the hats. the Cite still had to build the bypass road. Logic l~iufow~ answ°ered that Bob Mawld <br />was the only committee member who ~°oted for status quo at the September "?8 <br />meeting. Pete Richert said part of the reason the committee got rid of it as an <br />option ~~'as that the court order required the Cit~° to construct a bypass road <br />and they felt that recommendin~~ status quo didn't meet the Cit~~~s constraints. <br />Gcnc ,lordan responded that he didn't think the ll~affic was a bi~a problem. <br />Other committee members disagreed. Gene said traffic ou Happy Valle}° from <br />Sunol to the golf course aflected ]ess than 6 ~ homes. Pete reminded the group <br />that Alameda County had stated Happy Valley Road would be closed if plans <br />for a h}-pass road are abandoned. Bob Maund said the intent of the bypass <br />road was to preserve the semi-rural nature of the area. if 6, lulus went in. that <br />Level of deg elopmem would ruin the area.
