THE CITY OF <br />i <br />® m m ~~~ nT <br />j~L£~S~4NTON~ <br />9 <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />April 17, 2007 <br />Parks and Community Services <br />TITLE: APPROVAL OF A GRANT <br />CONSERVATION FUNDING <br />PHASE I, CIP NO. 007065 <br />SUMMARY <br />APPLICATION FOR LAND AND WATER <br />FOR BERNAL COMMUNITY PARK - <br />Staff is currently preparing a grant application for $106,000 from the Land and Water <br />Conservation Fund (LWCF), which is administered by the California Department of <br />Parks and Recreation and the National Park Service. The application deadline is May <br />1, 2007, and the City would be notified of the award in November 2007. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />That the City Council adopt the attached Resolution, authorizing the City Manager to <br />submit an application for grant funding from the Land and Water Conservation Fund. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />There is no direct fiscal impact with the approval of this Resolution. If a grant award is <br />received, the project could gain up to $106,000 in additional funding for Bernal <br />Community Park -Phase 1 (Lighted Sports Fields). Approximately $2,000 - $6,000 <br />would be retained by the California Department of Parks and Recreation to cover costs <br />for administering the grant on behalf of the National Park Service. <br />
