Tree Report, Trinity Lutheran Church
WMS Architects, June 2006
HortScience, inc.
Page 6
Demolition of the existing play ground and expansion of the northwestern parking lot will
require the removal of nine (9) trees, including three (3) 'Heritage trees' (#450, 451, and 453).
One (1) of the trees impacted by the proposed parking lot expansion (#435) had a split trunk
and was of poor suitability for preservation.
Installation of the bioswale adjacent to Golden Road will require the removal of an additional
three (3) trees, none of which qualify as 'Heritage trees'.
Based on the current plans, preservation is possible for 14 trees, including the two (2) off-site
and two (2) street trees. Four (4) of the trees recommended for preservation qualify as
"Heritage trees'. Preservation of trees at the Trinity Lutheran church site is predicated on
adhering to the Tree Preservation Guidelines provided at the end of this document.
Existing utilities around tree #448 must be abandoned in place, and root pruning may be
required for installation of the new storm drain. Additionally, minor pruning of off-site trees
#457 and 458 may be required for construction equipment clearance and must be done with
the property owner's permission.
In summary, we recommend preservation of 11 trees, including the two (2) street trees and
the two (2) off-site trees. The current plan requires the removal of 22 trees (Table 3). Among
trees recommended for removal are three (3) Heritage trees (#450, 451, and 453).
Table 3: Recommendations for Action.
Tree Species Trunk `Protected' ?
