ATTACHMENT 5 <br />TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH <br />PLEASANTON , CALIFORNIA <br />June 295`, 2006 <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />Trinity Lutheran Church (the Church) seeks approval to modify their existing Conditional Use <br />Permit for atwo-part site plan development of new preschool classrooms, new meeting room <br />spaces, and expanded parking area with landscaping. The Church is seeking both Use Permit <br />modification and Design Review approval for both parts of the next phase of construction. The <br />Church is also seeking extension of their permit beyond June 2006 to allow continued use of the <br />trailer modular buildings until the construction of the new preschool classroom facility is <br />complete in 2007. <br />The site is located at 1225 Hopyard Road, Pleasanton, California. (APN # 2-224-54-13) The <br />Church has occupied the site since 1968 and has seen its role primarily as a place of worship, <br />Christian education, community preschool education and community service for Pleasanton and <br />the Tri-Valley area. The Church has operated the Sonshine Enrichment Preschool on the property <br />since 1993. <br />The Church was granted four (4) previous entitlements from the City of Pleasanton for the church <br />use and the preschool use at this property: <br />• UP-67-2 : Approval of the Church use on the property <br />• Z-67-8 : Approval of a varience for a S wide landscape strip on the east property line <br />adjacent the pazk in lieu of a 10' wide landscape strip; and a 40' wide landscape strip <br />along the north property line along Golden Road in lieu of a 4' high wall. <br />• Z- 96-107: Approval of temporary modular trailers on the property for 5 years. <br />• Z-99-212 / UP-99-40 : Approval of Sanctuazy, administrative addition, off-street <br />parking and landscape improvements; extension of the modular building use on the <br />property. <br />The Church is expanding its facilities to allow for the replacement of the temporary portable <br />classroom modular units with a permanent preschool classroom facility, and additional meeting <br />rooms for church and outside community group programs. This next phase of development was <br />described in the Master Plan exhibit of UP-99-40 application documents. <br />The Church has an access and short-term parking easement agreement with the adjacent property <br />to the south-west which currently operates a Day Care.
