business directory.

Improvements and activities within the district for i990-91
include 75 to 100 new silhouette, eight-foot-high, tree pole-mounts
along Main Street between Stanley Blvd. and New Bernal Ave. from
Thanksgiving to New Year's, as well as a lighted silhouette five-foot
teddy bear under the community Christmas tree at 603 Main Street.

The tree mounts will be used for the next three years. The
teddy bear may be changed for 1991 and I992 in order to be in keeping
with the Downtown holiday theme. The 1990 theme is "Downtown Invites
You to Enjoy...A Storybook Christmas." The Association plans a
donation of holiday-themed books to the Pleasanton Library.

Additional holiday activity includes co-sponsorship of the
Christmas tree lighting, holiday open house, street entertainment,
carriage and hay rides, and appearances by Santa Claus and his rabbit
helper. Another holiday event is a window and/or interior decorating
contest. The Tri-Valley Herald is the co-sponsor and will provide
prizes and advertising.

Following the September 8 Native Sons sponsored Admission

Day Parade on Main Street, the Association will assist in sponsoring
a mini Civil War encampment and recruitment drive in Wayside Park.

A Civil War encampment in Pleasanton is a direct result of the Associ-
ation's creating a living symbol for the community in the person of
General Alfred Pleasonton (Ormond Eckley).

Additional 1990-91 promotions planned for Downtown are co-
sponsorship of the Halloween night Cat Walk, a February Valentine
restaurant activity, the Irish Sweepstakes in March, an Easter Bunny
