The drawings are being modified to reflect changes to the park's
entrance, electrical service point and other conditions due to the small, 9-lot subdivision
planned near the project's south end. The entry road, parking lot, bus turn-out and
related work will be performed by the developer of the Austin property, with the cost to
be reimbursed by the City. It is currently anticipated that the modified park construction
documents will be ready for bid in April 2007, with groundbreaking occurring in June
2007. It is anticipated that approximately 15 months will be required to construct the
improvements. Funding for the project includes $3,600,600 from the City's Capital
Improvement Program (CIP); $179,260 in State funds from Proposition 40; and
approximately $52,000 raised from the "Udder Event" community fundraisers. Once
completed, the Park will serve as a valuable community resource depicting the history
of Pleasanton, and benefit local schools by offering a view of Native American and early
Californio lifestyles, in addition to the California dairy and agricultural period.
Pleasanton Middle School Lighted Tennis Courts - Zeiger Electrical Engineering,
Inc., is currently preparing design documents for the lighting and court-surface
renovation of the two (2) tennis courts located at Pleasanton Middle School. An
inventory of the school's existing electrical system was completed last summer, and
much of the underground conduit necessary for the lighting is already in place. Funding
of $90,000 has been assigned to this project, and should be sufficient to construct all of
the planned improvements. It is anticipated that the project will be placed out for
competitive bids in April 2007, with construction occurring during the summer school
break. Due to the relatively long lead-time to acquire lighting fixtures, that equipment
will be pre-ordered in May 2007, to avoid a construction delay. It is anticipated that
construction will require six (6) to eight (8) weeks for completion.
Donlon School Sports Field (Restoration) -This project entailed the complete
restoration of the 8.5-acre turf play-field at Donlon Elementary School. Designed by
RRM Design Group of Oakdale, the project included complete replacement of the
irrigation system, state-of-the-art controller and booster pump, field re-grading, and
installation of new storm drainage facilities, soil preparation/seeding, and other related
improvements.
