the City's permitting, review, and approval process to allow for the timely <br />development of new projects that en hance the City's econom is vitality and quality of <br />life. Convene focus groups of developers and other customers with the purpose of <br />looking for opportunities to improve the development approval process. Utilize tools <br />such as websites, manuals, and streamlined review to encourage desired <br />development. <br />^ Comprehensively review and update current zoning code. <br />^ Collaborate with the Cham ber of Commerce to, analyze economic indicators to track <br />Pleasanton's economy and communicate pluses and minuses on a regular and <br />systematic basis. Use the new community newsletter, City website to communicate <br />resultsfindicators on a quarterly (as appropriate) an annual basis. <br />^ Consider convening an annual Economic Summit event (could be with Tri-Valley <br />mayors and business community, or separately with just Pleasanton focus). <br />Audience should include local officials, business owners and residents. Information <br />provided should emphasize local benefits of economic activities including generation <br />of tax revenues and job creation. <br />^ Encourage the location of a UC Extension facility in Pleasanton. <br />^ Facilitate free or low-cost wireless broadband access throughout the City where <br />opportunities are presented. <br />^ Develop an initiative that profiles sustainable building and energy firms in Pleasanton <br />and the Tri-Valley, and promotes their presence. Encourage demonstration projects <br />using these firms and technologies, in local development projects. <br />^ In addition, target attraction of additional firms working in sustainable development <br />and alternative energy. Promote this through the City website and in a specific <br />communications piece, as well as in targeted publications serving these businesses <br />nationally. <br />^ Encourage existing businesses to adopt sustainable practices and work to attract <br />sustainable industries and businesses. <br />Encourage businesses to participate in Alameda County's Green Business Program <br />and utilize businesses with green business practices. <br />Continue to position Pleasanton as a premier location for headquarters and regional <br />offices as opportunities arise. <br />17 <br />
