<br />Soundwalls and Benns <br /> <br />Soundwalls along maior arterial streets. such as those alonr Stoneridre Drive west of Bopyard Road <br />were installed in the 1970s and 1980s. 'lllese walls create a bland monotonous appearancc. In areas. <br />the appearance of soundwalls has been softened by growinr vines. In some areas. such as in the <br />Country Fair and Del Prado neighborhoods. the maintenance of soundwalls has been delayed. further <br />compromising their appearance. <br /> <br />Landscape berms provide sound attenuation and arc attractive alternatives to soundwalls. Other <br />desifDl solutions include frontare roads with homes facing thorou!,hfares (such as portions of Hopyard <br />and Foothill roads) and lush landscapinr such as along portions of Valley Avenue. However this <br />re<juires significant maintenance. A new landscaped berm was installed west of the freeway near the <br />Pheasant Ridge neighborhood. <br /> <br />Utilities <br /> <br />'llle City and other utility providers own and maintain the above-fD'ound utilities and utility boxes <br />which arc present on many streets in the city. 'll,ese utilities include traffic control devices. irrigation <br />controls. and backllow prevention devices.
