Management employees hired on January 1st, but prior to <br />October 1st of any year, shall receive prorated <br />administrative leave. Except for fire battalion chiefs, <br />managers shall receive 4.667 hours of administrative <br />leave for each full month of employment occurring between <br />their date of hire and December 31st. Fire battalion <br />chiefs shall receive two (2) hours of administrative <br />leave for each full month of employment occurring between <br />the above dates. <br />6.7 Leaves of Absence <br />6.7(i) Leaves of Absence Without Pav <br />The appointing authority may grant a full-time management <br />or confidential employee leave of absence without pay or <br />seniority for not to exceed three (3) months. No such <br />leave shall be granted except in writing and upon written <br />request of the employee setting forth the reason <br />therefor. Upon expiration of a regularly approved leave, <br />the employee shall be reinstated in the position held at <br />the time leave was granted. Failure on the part of an <br />employee on leave to report promptly at its expiration or <br />within a reasonable time after notice to return to duty <br />shall be cause for discipline. Department directors may <br />grant full-time management and confidential employees <br />leave of absence without pay for not to exceed one (1) <br />calendar week. Such leaves shall be reported to the <br />personnel officer. <br />6.7(2) Jury Leave <br />Management and confidential employees called or required <br />to serve as a juror shall be entitled to leave from <br />his/her duties with the city during the period of such <br />service or while necessarily being present in court as a <br />result of such call. <br />6.7(3) Military Leave <br />Military leave shall be granted in accordance with the <br />provisions of the law. All employees entitled to <br />military leave shall give the Appointing Authority an <br />opportunity within the limits of military regulations to <br />determine when such leave shall be taken. <br />6.7(4) Maternity Leave <br />The Appointing Authority may grant, upon written request, <br />maternity leave without pay up to six (6) months upon <br />determination that such leave will not adversely. effect <br />the needs of the city. <br />- 15 - <br />
