The Subcommittee developed a single application process for
cultural/arts, human services, and youth nonprofit agencies/organizations.

The Application Packet included general information, mission statement, funding categories,
evaluation/criteria, and funding priorities and limitations. Additionally, it defined an application
review/evaluation process for the Civic Arts, Human Services, and Youth commissions, within
each interest area, and clarified funding accountability.

FY 2006/07 Citv Grant Process

In spring of this year, the Civic Arts, Human Services, and Youth commissions reviewed the FY
2006/07 City Grant Program Application and Review Process. It was determined that a
Subcommittee, comprised of representatives from each of the affected commissions, explore
opportunities to modify the grant application packet to better identify program protocols,
address project guidelines, and simplify the application.

The Subcommittee considered the following objectives In developing recommendations for
improving the program and application.

. Keep the program protocols and application guidelines:
o Reasonable
o Manageable
o Objective
o Timely
o Appropriate
o Clearly Stated

Several elements of the program and application were considered for revision, and target
timelines for appropriate City commissions to consider recommendations were identified. Each
target date provides an opportunity for the commissions to evaluate distinct elements that would
have a direct impact on the next step in the revision process. The Commissions' Subcommittee
City Grant Program Revision Timeline and Tasks include:

November 2006

Revise Application Packet
o Simplify format
o Clearly identify and define project goals and outcomes
o Clearly identify the need for project in Pleasanton
o Identify how project addresses need(s) identified in:

SR 06:276
Page 2
