The change order was made possible by extending the method of construction of "pipe-
bursting" beyond the original planned limits. The original cost estimate provided for open
cut construction that was replaced by pipe bursting, resulting in construction cost savings,
as street cutting and repaving was not necessary. This change resulted in a project savings
of $45,731.04.

The staff report for the "Acceptance of Public Improvements for Water and Sewer
Connectors from Vineyard Avenue to Foxborough Place" is also before Council on this
date (December 5, 2006). As detailed in that staff report, staff is recommending the
transfer of $14,987.51 from this Annual Sewer Replacement project (052002) to the
Vineyard Avenue/Foxborough Place project (802010) to pay the remainder of
reimbursement due to Mardel for sewer line construction. With this transfer, the
remaining balance for this Annual Sewer Replacement project would be $183,397.01.
Staff recommends that these surplus funds be transferred to the "Annual Sewer
Replacement," CIP 062002.

.FISCAL IMPACT

This project will improve the performance of the sewer mains and reduce on-going
maintenance costs.

Respectfully submitted,

7<A 04

~~~
David P.
