City of Pleasanton <br />City Co~J~'l Policies ~ ~~, ~ <br /> <br />These policies and procedures are the official reference for City Council business. They have <br />been prepared to more clearly document Council procedures and clarify understanding for the <br />public, staff, and current and future Council members. Prior reference to and reliance upon the <br />document entitled "Guide to Legislative Procedures for City Council" is hereby superseded by <br />these policies and procedures. <br /> <br />I. CODE OF CONDUCT <br /> <br />To minimize conflict of interest exposure and to maintain a high level of mmtwith <br />the community, a Code of Ethics is established as follows: <br /> <br />The Political Reform Act of 1974, as mended, (PRA) establishes conflict of <br />interest guidelines for elected and appointed official.s, as well as for certain City <br />employees. The following Code of Ethics guidelines are established to highlight <br />and. augment the PRA. <br /> <br />No elected or appointed official (inclnding board and commi.*-sina <br />members), and no City employee, of the City of Pl_~nton shall engage <br />in ally bU$inesa or tl~tl,~on or $ball hay© fiRallcial or other ~ <br />interest, direct or indirect, which is incompatible with the proper disctmrge <br />of his/her official duties or would tend to impair his/her independence or <br />judgment or action in the performance of such duties. Examples of such <br />activities include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following: <br /> <br />Using the prestige or influence of the City office or employment <br />for private gain or advantage of him/herseff or another, unless so <br />specified by contract. <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />Using time, facilities, equipment or supplies of the City of <br />Pleasanton for the private gain or advantage of him/herself or <br />another. <br /> <br />c) <br /> <br />Using official information not available to the general public for <br />his/her private gain or advantage or that of another. <br /> <br />d) <br /> <br />Receiving or accep~g money or other personal consideration from <br />anyone other than the City of Pleasanton for the performance of <br />work done or actions taken m the regular course of employment or <br />duties for the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> <br />
