Facilitation

On July 3, 2006, the Knights appealed the Commission's decision, thereby initiating the
facilitation process. The Commission's direction limited those who could be involved in the
facilitation to the appellants (Georgatos'), the applicants (Knights), the architect, a member in
support of the project, and the facilitator(s).

On September 21, 2006, a neighborhood facilitation meeting was held to determine if an
agreement could be reached. Present at the meeting were Mary Roberts, Facilitator; Jerry
Iserson, Director of Planning and Community Development; Stacey and Stan Knight
owners/applicants; Dennis and Barbara Georgatos, 790 East Angela; Martha Wensel, 787
Mirador Court; and Peter Shutts, Architect. During the meeting, the Knights presented three
alternatives to the second-story design and discussed a reduction in the profile of the addition.
The neighbors presented their concerns and suggestions, and the following was agreed upon:

. The master bedroom would be moved 2 feet to the north, as proposed by the Knights.
. Transom windows would be used on the rear elevation in the master bedroom with a
minimum 6-foot windowsill.
. The stairway windows on the rear elevation will be glass block.
. There would be a 75 square-foot reduction in the second-floor.
. The Georgatos' will consider constructing a retaining wall on the rear shared property
line and filling the rear portion oftheir property; the cost of the new 6 foot fence on top
of the retaining wall would be split with the Knights.
. No Saturday construction.
. One additional tree in the rear yard of the Knights' property for the Georgatos'.
o Both will determine the species, size, and placement.

Detailed information on this meeting is provided in the attached facilitation meeting minutes in
Exhibit K.

SR 06:245
Page 4 of8
