The report includes a recommendation to <br />approve the guidelines as a statement of preferred features in any future <br />senior housing development to be provided to prospective developers of <br />future senior housing projects in Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />In 2003, the Housing Commission raised the issue of developing general design and service <br />criteria to be applied to future senior housing projects designed for independent living. <br />Pleasanton resident Jack Dove also raised the same issue and provided a specific example from <br />a city in British Columbia. <br /> <br />During 2004 and 2005, staff worked with the Housing Commission, Mr. Dove, and other <br />interested parties to develop draft guidelines for future senior housing developments.
