<br />'!1,e City of Pleasanton designates trees over 55 inches in circumference or 35 feet in hcight-ftl'e <br />eOfl.lidered as "Heritage Trees" .lIld are subject to special regulations governing their removaL' 1\Iany <br />trees of this size grow on Pleasanton Ridge and the Southeast Hills, in the Downtown area, along the <br />western segment of Bernal A venue, along Stanley Boulcvard near Reflections Drive, and in the <br />Mohr-1\lartin neighborhood. The most common of these trees include valley oak, 1\Ionterey pine, <br />California black walnut, eucalyptus, sycamore, black locust, and California box elder. Of all of the tree <br />species !,rowinV in Pleasanton only the Northern California black walnut is a federal Species of <br />Concern. <br /> <br />Soil Resources <br /> <br />Soils arc a natural resource whieh-contributeing to the viability of agriculture and grazing activities, the <br /> <br />rcehargc of groundwater recharge, and the plOdueti. it) o[plant and animal habitat productivity. and <br /> <br />development suitability. In lleneral. the criteria <br /> <br />reflect adequate natural moisture content: specific soil temperature range: a pH (measure of acidity or <br /> <br />alkalinity) between 4.5 and 8.4 in the rootinll zone: low susceptibility to flootling: low risk to wind and <br /> <br />water erosion: minimum permeability rates: and low rock fra~>1nent content.
