To receive incentive pay an employee must submit a copy <br /> of his/her diploma, or letter from the college/ <br /> university registrar attesting to the award of the <br /> degree and a complete official college/university <br /> transcript of courses and grades. <br /> <br /> Employees with approval to enroll in the educational <br /> plan on or before February 28, 1990 shall upon success- <br /> ful completion of the approved educational level be <br /> entitled to the incentive pay in effect at the time <br /> their enrollment was approved. All current employees <br /> receiving incentive pay under the previous MOU shall <br /> continue to receive that educational incentive pay <br /> and this section 16.1 shall apply to all applications <br /> for education incentive pay after March 1, 1990. <br /> <br /> 16.2 Tuition Reimbursement <br /> <br /> Regular full time employees shall be eligible for <br /> reimbursement of tuition expenses for college or <br /> university courses successfully completed with a grade <br /> of "C" or better provided said courses have been <br /> approved in advance by the Chief of Police and the <br /> college/university from which the courses are taken <br /> is accredited by the Western Association of Schools <br /> and Colleges. <br /> <br /> Tuition shall be reimbursed in the amount and at the <br /> rate for internal degrees levied by Hayward State <br /> University in effect at the time the employee enrolled <br /> in the courses for which tuition reimbursement is <br /> requested. Employees completing courses from <br /> colleges/university on a semester system shall be <br /> reimbursed at one and one half (1-1/2) times the <br /> equivalent Hayward State University quarter hour rate. <br /> <br /> The maximum amount of tuition reimbursement an employee <br /> may receive per fiscal year shall not exceed the total <br /> tuition levied by Hayward State University for the <br /> four quarter academic year beginning with the preceding <br /> fall quarter. <br /> <br /> Requests for tuition reimbursement shall be submitted <br /> at the completion of each quarter or semester and be <br /> accompanied by an official receipt verifying the <br /> tuition amount and the tuition payment, and an official <br /> transcript of grades. <br /> <br />16.3 Book Reimbursement <br /> <br /> Regular full time employees may be reimbursed for books <br /> required for college/university courses approved by the <br /> Chief of Police and successfully completed with a grade <br /> of "C" or better.
