S~n~e tha~ time he felt that rural character already had changed a lot in that many trees have been removed to allow development. He thought i~ would be a great sacrifice if the road from Bernal to Stoneridge Drive were changed in the guise of concern for -- safety- He felt that it would be a tragedy to cut down any more trees, especially some that could be 100 years' old. He suggested an alternative iOea to widening the road was to divide the road and make an upper and lower road. Commissioner Michelo~ti assured Mr. Glenn that her feelings in wanting to retain the rural character of Foo~hil! RoaO are same now as they were ~our years ago. Mr. Glenn commented that it was already too late to preserve the area that he lives in, Out he could still enjoy drivin~ DY the area near Purl Court if it were not changed drasticallY- Mike Kliment, 5142 Foothill Road, said that he felt the Commission and staff has a good idea of w~at the situation really is on Foothill Road-' He thought the big Question relating to the issue of safety was whether 4 lanes is actually needed. He felt the traffic count could ~e adequately handled on a 2-lane road. He stressed that he and the people he represented favor a 2-lane road. If improvements are deemed be necessarY, he would limit ~ne grading as much as possible and preserve the rural look or heritage of the existing area as much as possible.
