Mr. Higdon commented that the bike lanes are really a necessity because o~ the absence o~ room ~or a shoulder or emergency parking ~or vehicles. Chairman Mahern wondered whether a curb and gutter area was a necessitY- Mr. Swift said that a gutter is needed ~or storm ' drain purposes. Commissioner McGuirk discussed the walk ways with ~r. Swift. Commissioner Micheiotti asked Mr. Swift i~ in looking a~ 4 lanes south o~ Muirwood South, whether the tra~i~ volume coming along Foothill Road is going to have to be channeled down to 2 lanes- She wondered justification there was ~or the s~rong stance on 4 lanes when the traffic volume going ~rom north to south is going to have to channel down anyway- Mr. Swift responded that sta~ would actually DroVer going to ~our lanes all the way, bu~ the General Plan does no% include that- In ~ac~, the General Plan requirements were reduced to 5 lanes in thai siretch to try to stay in the low density range, i~ possible.
