CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 91-06 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A RESIDENTIAL <br /> RECYCLING INCENTIVE PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on October 16th, the City of Pleasanton established a <br /> city-wide recycling program which involves the <br /> establishment of a resource recovery center at the Busch <br /> Road Transfer Station; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the resource recovery center will be responsible for <br /> removing recyclable material from the City's wastestream <br /> and for marketing that material to the best available <br /> buyers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is desirous of expanding the recycling program <br /> so that it better educates residents of the recycling <br /> process and so that it provides an economic incentive to <br /> those residents who regularly recycle. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Pr~ASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council establishes a residential recycling <br /> incentive program with Pleasanton Garbage which will <br /> operate under the following guidelines: <br /> <br /> 1. Citizens who voluntarily remove recyclable material <br /> from the wastestream are entitled to receive a <br /> credit to be used against their quarterly refuse <br /> collection bill from Pleasanton Garbage. <br /> <br /> 2. For the purposes of this program, recyclable <br /> material shall include newspaper, glass bottles and <br /> aluminum cans. <br /> <br /> 3. In order to receive a credit, residents must take <br /> their recyclables to the buy-back center at the <br /> Busch Road Transfer Station and have a stamp placed <br /> on his/her prior quarterly bill received from <br /> Pleasanton Garbage Service, Inc. <br /> <br /> 4. One stamp will be given for each 25 pounds of <br /> recyclable material presented at the buy-back <br /> center. A total of 75 pounds (three stamps) of <br /> recyclable material must be presented during any <br /> given quarter to receive a credit. The amount of <br /> credit to be applied in return for the recyclables <br /> will be $3.51 per quarter. <br /> <br /> <br />
