CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION NO. 91-06 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING INCENTIVE PROGRAM WHEREAS, on October 16th, the City of Pleasanton established a city-wide recycling program which involves the establishment of a resource recovery center at the Busch Road Transfer Station; and WHEREAS, the resource recovery center will be responsible for removing recyclable material from the City's wastestream and for marketing that material to the best available buyers; and WHEREAS, the City is desirous of expanding the recycling program so that it better educates residents of the recycling process and so that it provides an economic incentive to those residents who regularly recycle. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Pr~ASANTON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The City Council establishes a residential recycling incentive program with Pleasanton Garbage which will operate under the following guidelines: 1. Citizens who voluntarily remove recyclable material from the wastestream are entitled to receive a credit to be used against their quarterly refuse collection bill from Pleasanton Garbage. 2. For the purposes of this program, recyclable material shall include newspaper, glass bottles and aluminum cans. 3. In order to receive a credit, residents must take their recyclables to the buy-back center at the Busch Road Transfer Station and have a stamp placed on his/her prior quarterly bill received from Pleasanton Garbage Service, Inc. 4. One stamp will be given for each 25 pounds of recyclable material presented at the buy-back center. A total of 75 pounds (three stamps) of recyclable material must be presented during any given quarter to receive a credit. The amount of credit to be applied in return for the recyclables will be $3.51 per quarter.
