City Council Staff Report June 20, 2006 Public Works Department APPROVAL OF CONSULTANT AGREEMENTS WITH CSG CONSULTANTS, INC., INDEPENDENT CODE CONSULTANTS, INC., RK ASSOCIATES, INC., AND BUREAU VERITAS/LP2A ASSOCIATES, INC., TO PROVIDE CALIFORNIA BUILDING AND FIRE CODE PLAN REVIEW AND FIELD INSPECTION SERVICES STAFF RECOMMENDATION: SUMMARY: SR 06:121 Page I of 4 Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the meeting of June 20, 2006: 1. Approve the contracts with CSG Consultants, Inc., Independent Code Consultants, Inc., RK Associates, Inc., and Bureau Veritas/LP2A Associates, Inc., to provide necessary California Building and Fire Code plan review and field inspection services. 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the subject contracts. The City of Pleasanton has historically utilized consultant services for building and fire permit plan review. CSG Consultants, Inc., Independent Code Consultants, RK Associates, and Bureau Veritas/LP2A Associates, Inc. have been chosen from a list of qualified consultants to provide building plan review and field inspection services in the City of Pleasanton. Three of the four firms have offices here in Pleasanton. All four of the consultant firms have a proven track record of providing prompt plan review turnaround times, accurate plan reviews, and professional and friendly customer service. The proposed new contracts (see Exhibit A, sample contract) continue the same basic percentages of the plan review fees paid to the consultants from seventy percent (70%) to fifty-five percent (55%) and also standardizes the hourly billing rates between the consultants.
