<br />r <br /> <br /> <br />4F <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />- .. <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />June 20, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF BIDS <br />AND AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR ANNUAL SEWER <br />REPLACEMENT, PROJECT NO. 052002 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of June 20,2006: <br /> <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for the project. <br /> <br />2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the subject project <br />to McNamara & Smallman Construction, Inc. of Livermore, California, <br />for a low bid amount of $940,270. <br /> <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contract. <br /> <br />4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve and execute contract <br />change orders for a contingency amount not-to-exceed $137,000 <br />(approximately 15% of the contract amount) for necessary related <br />project work. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />One bid has been received for the subject project and staff is recommending <br />award of the construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder in the <br />amount of $940,270. The project consists of replacing existing sewer mains <br />and laterals with 2-way clean-outs that meet the new industry standard, within <br />various City streets and easements. The streets included in this project <br />include portions of Abbie Street, Third Street, Gale A venue, Whiting Street, <br />and East Angela Street. <br /> <br />SR 06:138 <br />Page 1 of3 <br />
