amount of $2,246,736. The objective of this project is to keep streets in a safe and smooth riding condition by overlaying the existing street surface with a new layer of asphalt concrete. Inspection services are needed for this project to assist the City in overseeing work performed by the contractor and to provide construction support and administration. Six fIrms were solicited for proposals. Four firms responded with proposals. Based on the proposal submitted, Kleinfelder was selected to meet the City's needs. Kleinfelder has provided the City with similar services previously and has performed well in this capacity in past years. The fee proposal provided by Kleinfelder is reasonable and therefore staff recommends approval by the City Council of the consulting service contract with Kleinfelder for a "not-to-exceed" amount of $40,000.
