<br />r <br /> <br /> <br />4D <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />June 20, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF <br />BIDS, AND AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND <br />APPROVAL OF A SERVICE CONTRACT FOR RESURFACING <br />OF VARIOUS CITY STREETS, PROJECT NO. 055003 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of June 20,2006: <br /> <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> <br />2. Review the bids received and award the construction contract for the <br />subject project to O'Grady paving Inc. of Mountain View, California, <br />for a low bid amount of $2,246,736. <br /> <br />3. Approve a Consulting Service Contract with Kleinfelder to provide <br />specialty inspection services for a not-to-exceed amount of $40,000 <br /> <br />4. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above consultant service <br />and construction contracts. <br /> <br />5. Authorize the transfer of $500,000 from the Annual Street Resurfacing <br />project from FY 2006-07 into this year's FY 2005-06 project (CIP No. <br />065003) when funds are available. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Plans and specifications were prepared for the subject project. Bids have <br />been received and staff is recommending award of the construction <br />contract to the lowest responsible bidder, O'Grady Paving Inc., in the <br /> <br />SR 06:165 <br />Page 1 of 5 <br />
