subside this surruner, staff will work with Zone 7 to construct permanent channel bank repairs.
S-6 is a critical facility in the sanitary sewer collection system. Its preservation and good
operation are necessary to deliver millions of gallons of effluent daily to the Dublin San Ramon
Services District (DSRSD) Treatment Plant.

Based on damage information, Governor Schwarzenegger has sent a letter requesting a
Presidential declaration of disaster. Once a disaster is declared, a request for public assistance
can be submitted. The request for public assistance must include Pleasanton's "Authorized
Agent" to be accepted. Staff recommends we designate an "Authorized Agent" for this
possible declaration or in preparation of future declarations.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact from the requested action; however, there is a potential to receive
public assistance and reduce costs to the sewer utilities and ultimately the ratepayers.

The cost incurred to-date for the emergency stabilization work is approximately $16,000. This
includes after -hours staff efforts and work performed by the City's emergency contractor,
McGuire and Hester. Staff estimates the cost of the remaining work to be approximately
$45,000.

Respectfully Submitted,

12{:0L-

~k~-:~

David P.
