Additional amenities to this <br />project would create a park-like setting and would involve planting trees along <br />Payne Road and Denker Drive. The cost of implementing a permanent fencing <br />around the site has been included in the amenities category. The Parks and <br />Recreation Commission did not want funding for this project to come from <br />existing funded Capital Improvement Program projects. The Pleasanton Sports <br />Council is looking for additional sports fields. The Sports Council views this as a <br />positive project. The Sports Council's main concern is the availability of lighted <br />sports fields, which would not happen at this particular site. <br /> <br />Mayor Hosterman believed that staffs recommendation was to allow staff the <br />ability to discuss a cooperative funding approach with tentative approval for this <br />basic plan. <br /> <br />Mr. Fialho said staff would like for Council to react to the plan conceptually and <br />provide feedback as to what level of contribution it would be willing to put into this <br />project in the context of everything else that is occurring in the City. Staff is also <br />looking for Council direction to defer funding for this project to a later date to <br />allow time for staff to engage with the School District on a joint funding formula <br />that may expand beyond the School District's contribution. There is a possibility <br />of grants that could be secured from the State and whatever could be added to <br />the pot will offset the City's ultimate contribution to this project. He indicated that <br />he would spend some time value engineering this project to see if the total <br />project cost could be decreased to a reasonable level. <br /> <br />Mr. Sullivan asked if the intent was to replace the soil on the infields but not on <br />the outfields? <br /> <br />Mr. Wolfe said that the soil would be amended for the turf areas and a special <br />soil mix would be replaced on the infields. <br />
