The low bid was submitted by Jensen Corporation, at a
cost of $1,096,888. The City Council had previously approved up to
$500,000 in City funds as a joint venture with the School District. In
addition to the bid price, expenditures for project design ($100,900),
inspection and construction management ($18,600), and a 10% project
contingency ($109,689) bring the total estimated costs for the improvements
to $1,326,077. As a result of the increased costs, the School District is
requesting that the Council appropriate up to an additional $150,000 for the
project.

Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council:

BACKGROUND

In August 2005, the City Council considered a request from the Pleasanton Unified School
District (PUSD) to partner on proposed improvements to the Donlon Elementary School athletic
fields (Attachment A). With modernization improvements scheduled to occur at Donlon, the
CitylSchool District Liaison Committee initiated discussions about a joint project to improve the
athletic fields for physical education classes and community use.
