<br />r <br /> <br />'" <br /> <br /> <br />68 <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />./ <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />May 16, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />REVIEW OF BIDS AND AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR <br />KOTTINGER CREEK RESTORATION PROJECT, CIP NO. 038023 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of May 16, 2006: <br /> <br />1. Review the bids received and award a contract for the subject <br />project to Hanford Applied Restoration & Conservation of <br />Sonoma, California, for a low base bid of $847,256.24. <br /> <br />2. Consider bid alternatives and direct staff accordingly. <br /> <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contract. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is recommending <br />award of a construction contract to the low bidder in the amount of <br />$847,256.24. The project consists of restoring Kottinger Creek to a more <br />natural setting, including the removal of invasive species, regrading of the <br />creek, the replacement of the existing irrigation system and the <br />revegetation of the creek with native plantings, trees and shrubs. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />At the meeting of March 21, 2006 the City Council approved the plans and specifications and <br />authorized the calling for bids for the subject project. Sealed bids for this project were opened <br />on May 3rd, 2006. A total of three bids, which ranged from $847,256.24 to $1,137,239.00 <br />were received.
