<br />/ <br /> <br />" <br /> <br /> <br />4Q <br /> <br />\. <br /> <br />.) <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />May 16, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />APPOINTMENT TO THE TRI-VALLEY POLICY COMMITTEE <br />ON THE REGIONAL RAIL PLAN STUDY <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of May 16,2006: <br /> <br />Appoint the Mayor as the City Representative to the Policy Committee for <br />the Regional Rail Plan study. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />The Metropolitan Transportation Commission has recommended the <br />formation of a Tri-Valley Policy Committee to coordinate and collaborate <br />on the Regional Rail Plan Study. Each agency in the Tri-Valley is being <br />asked to appoint a member to this Committee. A separate Technical <br />Advisory Committee will be attended by City Staff. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />The Metropolitan Transportation Commission has embarked upon a study to identify a Bay <br />Area vision for Regional Rail. To assure that the Tri-Valley's visions and concerns are <br />addressed a Tri-Valley Policy Committee is being formed to coordinate and collaborate on the <br />Regional Rail Plan Study. Each agency is being asked to appoint a member to this <br />Committee. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Regional Rail Plan Study is being conducted by MTC and will establish transit priorities <br />for the area for the next 50 years. It includes consideration of High Speed Rail Corridors from <br />Sacramento to San Jose and beyond, as well as ACE train upgrades, BART extensions and <br /> <br />SR 06:149 <br />Page I of2 <br />
