Developing methods to motivate the public to recycle their used oil. <br /> <br />The Fire Department uses existing staff, including a student intern position, as well as a <br />contractor staff the Grant program. We annually visit the California Integrated Waste <br />Management Board Certified Use Oil Collection Facilities in Pleasanton to assist them in <br />providing used oil collection services and to help ensure they are following program guidelines. <br />We have developed a used oil public outreach program to provide citizens with information <br />regarding used oil and filter drop point locations, the need to properly manage waste oil and <br />filters to keep petroleum contaminants out of soil and surface waters. In addition, we give away <br />free of charge oil funnels and collection containers to citizens who change their own oil.
