<br /> <br />4E <br /> <br />- I ;;1;; <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />May 16, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT FOR DESIGN, <br />CONSTRUCTION AND ADMINISTRATION OF A TRAFFIC <br />OPERATIONS SYSTEM (TOS) AND AN INTELLIGENT <br />TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (ITS) WITHIN THE 1-580 <br />CORRIDOR <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of May 16, 2006: <br /> <br />1. Approve entering into a Cooperative Agreement with the Alameda <br />County Congestion Management Agency for the design, construction <br />and administration of the 1-580 Intelligent Transportation System <br />(ITS)/Traffic Operations System (TOS). <br /> <br />2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the Cooperative Agreement for <br />the design, construction and administration of the 1-580 Intelligent <br />Transportation System (ITS)/Traffic Operations System (TOS). <br /> <br />SUMMARY: The Alameda County Congestion Management Agency is currently <br />designing the eastbound 1-580 High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) <br />Project, due to break ground in 2007. An initial phase of this project <br />involves the installation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) <br />equipment along the corridor to help manage traffic congestion during <br />the more invasive freeway construction phases. This equipment <br />includes changeable message signs, video monitoring equipment, ramp <br />metering signals, and other communications and monitoring hardware. <br /> <br />SR 06:108 <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
