This report recommends that the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving the
application with MTC for Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 funds in the
amount of $40,000.

Eligible projects for these funds include: construction and/or engineering of a capital project;
to maintain a bikeway that is closed to motorized traffic; for a bicycle safety education
program; or, to develop bicycle or pedestrian facilities. The City of Pleasanton Staff Traffic
Committee recommends that an application be submitted for the AlUmal Sidewalk and
Intersection Ramp Installations Capital Improvement Project.

This is an annual project that is intended to provide a safe walking area for pedestrians. It will
improve access to public facilities and commercial locations for the mobility-impaired, as well
as improve bicycle access. The City of Pleasanton Public Works Department constructs new
sidewalks and intersection ramps at various locations where they do not currently exist.
Locations will be selected at a later date following completion of engineering analysis.

FISCAL IMPACT

The $40,000 in TDA funds being applied for now will be used to construct new sidewalks and
intersection ramps.
