<br /> <br />4D <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />pLEASANTONo <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />May 2, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW OF <br />BIDS AND AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR STONERIDGE DRIVE <br />PIPELINE, PROJECT NO. 031016 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of May 2, 2006: <br /> <br />1. Approve the plans and specifications for this project. <br /> <br />2. Review the bids received and award the contract for the subject <br />project to McGuire and Hester of Oakland, California, for a low bid <br />of $687,960. <br /> <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the above contract. <br /> <br />4. Authorize the Director of Public Works to approve and execute <br />contract change orders for a contingency amount not-to-exceed <br />$100,000 (15%) for necessary related project work. <br /> <br />5. Authorize the transfer of $200,000 from CIP No. 001000, Annual <br />Water Replacement. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Bids have been received for the subject project and staff is recommending <br />award of the construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder, <br />McGuire and Hester, in the amount of $687,960. The subject project <br />consists of installing a 16" ductile iron water pipe in Stoneridge Drive <br />from Hopyard to Johnson Drive to improve water system hydraulics and <br />to improve water quality in the Foothill reservoir. <br /> <br />SR 06: 118 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
