During the public meeting, residents supported option 1, which accelerates the construction
period and minimizes inconvenience. Concerns from Ruby Hill residents related to
transporting their children to school in the fall and having to contend with traffic delays
associated with construction. Also, an email message was received from a resident who
resides on Pietronave Lane objecting to this option. His concerns related to detour traffic
merging with residents exiting Pietronave Lane and the associated difficulties in ingress and
egress from his property.

Present estimates for the roundabouts removal is $500,000 for demolition and construction
costs and an additional $40,000 for the repairs necessary on Old Vineyard Avenue to allow
detoured construction traffic onto Old Vineyard Avenue. Repairs include refreshing lane
markings, traffic signage and detour barriers, tree trimming along the edge of roadway, the
filling of potholes, and pavement surface repairs. Traffic detours onto Old Vineyard Avenue
will limit speed to 25 MPH as for a construction zone. These are engineer's estimates only,
and exact costs will not be determined until bids are received.

NEXT STEPS

Staff needs to complete the following steps to proceed with the subject project:

1) Proceed with fmalization of construction plans and specifications for bidding purposes
based on Old Vineyard Avenue being used as a temporary construction detour.

2) Bid the project to determine actual costs and select contractor.

SCHEDULE

1) June 20, 2006, report to City Council awarding construction contract.
2) July 10, 2006, start construction.
3) September 15, 2006, fmish construction.

SR 06:099
Page 4 of5
