<br /> <br />46 <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />April 18, 2006 <br />Public Works Department <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />ACCEPTANCE OF IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE FIRST STREET <br />UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT CONVERSION PROJECT, <br />UNDERGROUND UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 02-1, PROJECT 025071B <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action at the <br />meeting of April 18, 2006: <br /> <br />1. Accept the improvements for the subject project. <br /> <br />2. Authorize the City Clerk to fIle a Notice of Completion for the subject <br />project. <br /> <br />3. Authorize fmal payment in the amount of $1,457.05 and the release of <br />retention in the amount $24,998.69 to Prism Engineering, thirty days <br />after fIling the Notice of Completion. <br /> <br />4. Authorize transfer of remaining project funds to Project 055003, <br />Annual Resurfacing of Various Streets. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />On February 15, 2005, City Council awarded the construction contract to <br />Prism Engineering for conversion of utility services from overhead to <br />underground for residences and businesses along First Street and Kottinger <br />Drive. The subject work is complete and ready for acceptance. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />On December 17, 2002, by resolution, the City Council formed Underground Utility District <br />No. 02-1 (UUD 02-01) which provided for the undergrounding of the existing overhead utility <br /> <br />SR 06:107 <br />Page 1 of 4 <br />
