<br /> <br />4F <br /> <br />.... <br /> <br />./ <br /> <br />pLEASANTONe <br /> <br />City Council <br />Staff Report <br /> <br />April 18, 2006 <br />Parks and Community Services <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR GRANT <br />FUNDING UNDER THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION <br />FUND FOR BERNAL COMMUNITY PARK, PHASE I, CIP 007065 <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />That the City Council adopt the attached resolution, authorizing the City <br />Manager to submit an application for grant funding from the Land and <br />Water Conservation Fund. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br /> <br />Staff is currently preparing a grant application for funding under the Land <br />and Water Conservation Fund, which is administered by the State of <br />California on behalf of the Federal Government. <br /> <br />The application deadline is May 1, 2006. Funding in the amount of <br />$100,000 is being requested. Under this competitive grant program, a total <br />of $480,000 is available to all Northern California projects. If approved by <br />the State Department of Parks and Recreation and the National Park Service, <br />the City would be notified of the award by November, 2006. <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council: <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) program is administered nationally by the <br />National Park Service, and provides funds to federal agencies, all 50 states, and six (6) territories. <br />Funds for the program come from the following federal sources: recreation fees; sales of surplus <br />real property; motorboat fuels tax; and Outer Continental Shelf mineral receipts.
