TDA 4.5 Document E(a)
Page 5

The Pleasanton Paratransit Service operates with two (2) full-time drivers, 70%
Supervisor, and 30% Recreation Coordinator, 10% of a Manager's time, seven (7)
part-time drivers, one (I) full-time dispatcher, and one (I) part-time dispatcher.
Staff strives to meet the increasing demand for service, with denials recorded for
requested rides that cannot be filled according to ADA guidelines. During FY
2004-05, there were 327 new riders who used Pleasanton Paratransit Service. It is
estimated that at least 200 new riders will register for the service in FY 2006-
2007.

Service changes cannot keep abreast ofthe growing need for region-wide
paratransit services, especially medical appointments. This need continues to
increase as hospitals consolidate, doctors specialize, and there are limited HMO
affiliates. Also, local paratransit providers cannot address the ever-increasing
demand for special need transportation of dialysis clients without severely
limiting service to other paratransit users.

Marketing for the Pleasanton Paratransit Service is completed through the City of
Pleasanton Parks and Community Services Department. Pleasanton Paratransit is
promoted in the quarterly Activities Guide, produced and distributed to all
Pleasanton residents. Staff distributes program brochures to local stores, medical
offices, the library, schools, service centers, etc.

The Pleasanton Senior Center staff also produces a quarterly newsletter, which
includes Paratransit information. A one page PPS flyer has been developed as an
inexpensive marketing tool to use in mass mailings and distribution.

The Pleasanton Paratransit Service Riders' Guide is mailed to all existing clients.
It is also distributed to all new clients, local businesses, medical offices, the
library, senior housing complexes, and service centers.

A new, bi-annual Pleasanton Paratransit Service (PPS) Newsletter, "Around
Town with PPS", has been developed through volunteer and staff efforts. This
newsletter was mailed to over 900 registered clients, and distributed to the major
senior housing and community stops. It has been well received, and serves as a
valuable resource for transit information.
